AdBlue® is the name adopted in Europe for the Aqueous Urea Solution (AUS 32), which is a fluid comprising of 32.5% urea and 67.5% deionized water.
Strict quality standards for AUS 32 are defined under ISO 22241, which require that both raw materials must be ultra-pure.
The ISO 22241 standards set not only quality requirements for the final product but also for the production, handling, transportation and storage of the product.
Since the introduction of SCR technology in 2006, the use of AdBlue® has grown rapidly year on year, not only in Trucks, Buses and Coaches but more recently agriculture and off highway applications.
2014 brought the introduction of Euro 6, which will see all diesel cars require AdBlue® by 2020.
SCR technology and the use of Urea based fluids will see Ships, Boats, Trains and many more applications using AdBlue® or AUS40.
